Black buildings on LHBP 1.3 build 1 P3Dv5
« on: May 12, 2020, 09:32:53 AM »
Hi,

I bought your excellent LHBP scenery again to support you, but unfortunately it only shows black buildings in P3Dv5 HF1.

I followed the install instructions to the letter:
- installed in the default directory (documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons
- the installer, scenery configurator and LHBP activation runned well without errors
- the DLL is created in a separate directory

Upon starting P3D the LHSim DLL isn't visible in the menu bar. But according to process explorer it is loaded with P3D.

To debug it, I followed your troubleshooting steps mentioned on: http://lhsimulations.com/forum/index.php?topic=1016.0

But no effect. I also disabled all other addons (SODE, GSX, scenery) to rule out interference, also to no effect.

So I'm out of ideas now. I hope you can help me further.

Regards

In the Add-on menu you do see the LHSimulations Budapest LHBP v1, correct?

I mean with the Add-on menu this:
Prepar3D v5 main screen -> options -> Add-ons

The DLL is working it just say the LHBP is not included in the add-ons.cfg therefore it switches it off.

I checked the LHSproductact.ini file. It seems the foldername is still the old one of v4 LHS_LHBP_X. Could that be a cause?

Scenery=LHBP
Folder=LHS_LHBP_X
Dll=LHBP_objectPlacer64.dll
Platform=P3D5
Type=Payware
add-on.xml

/Texture2048
/logoption

This is still a mistery for me, but could you please redo the logging using the attached LHSimulationsSceneryConfigurator? (Overwrite the old one)

I'm sorry that it takes so long, most probably the solution is just front of us, just we are blind.

For some reason your add-ons.cfg is created in a wrong format. Maybe one of your add-on rewrote that.
Could you please try the following. Rename it for something else and P3D by the next start will generate a new one.

It is here: AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5

To open your appdata open a folder browser in the search type %appdata% and enter.

Some success, see attachment! We're getting close now:
-I renamed both add-on.cfg in appdata\roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 and in \programdata\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5
-I disabled all other addons from the directory documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons
-I restarted P3D and let it rebuild the add-on.cfg. Only both LHS directories remained in documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons
-Let the LHSimulationsSceneryConfigurator run again
-Restarted P3D again

So it seems indeed something was wrong with on of the add-ons.cfg files

I will add now some other addons now and check if it works still

Added all my previous addons. And it still working good! So thanks for your help, I'm very happy now to have LHBP back in v5!

I did investigate with Notepad++ the difference between the orginal add-on.cfg and the new created one. It seems to be the encoding. The original was encoded as UTF-8, while the new one created by P3D has encoding UCS-2 LE BOM. I also suspect some other installer messed up the encoding.

Maybe you can check with the scenery configurator the right encoding, so to prevent the difficult to trace errors like mine.
